For the Step It Up task I had to make a programme of  fun games to play in a tent or when you go camping.

Here is my programme:

I also have 2 videos to show you what the tent looks like on the outside and inside:

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 6 Day 4 - Gliding Time

Kia Ora bloggers! Welcome back to another crafty post! Today for the Kick Start task I had to make my own glider out of recycled items. So I used: Paper, sellotape, glue, cardboard and a kebab stick. I had a lot of fun making it. I also had to label some parts of the glider.

Here is my Glider:

My Glider didn't really work because it didn't fly in a straight line and kept flying everywhere. I also have a video of me testing the Glider:

And here is a video of me getting the Glider:

For the Step It Up task I had to Plan a design of a different Glider and then test it out and make a video which is above. The second test flight didn't really work because I think I added a Lego person which made it a bit heavier as well as a gliding handle.

Hope you enjoyed today's task!

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Wee 6 Day 3 - Pixel Art

Welcome back to another post! Today I used Pixel Art Maker to create images from it. For the Kick Start I had to make an image from the top of my mind, so I did a chocolate and strawberry ice - cream on a cone. And for the Step It Up Task I had to make a tree, so I did a Pohutukawa Tree.
Here is my ice - cream:

And here is my tree:

3 Facts About Pixels:

1. Your screen that is in front of you right now might have over 1 million megapixels!

2. One little Pixel Square will hold three colours, Blue, Green and Red, these colours will make over
16,777,16 other colour variations!

3. Pixel is short for 'Picture Element'.

Hope you learnt a few things about pixels!

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 6 Day 3 - Mondrian

Kia Ora bloggers! For the Kick Start I had to make my own Mondrian Art. And for the Step It Up I had to make another art and find the areas and fractions of that piece of art.

Here is my first art:

I learnt that Piet Mondrian moved to Paris where he met Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso then he moved back to the Netherlands. He calls the art he did before he past, 'Neoplasticiam'. the thing that was challenging was that I didn't know what pattern to do so I just did a easy one. The thing that was easy was to just three colours instead of doing so many different colours.

Here is my second art:

Here is my maths:

Key: 1 square = 1 cm

Area:
Blue: 61 cm
Red: 42 cm
Yellow: 44 cm
White: 77 cm

Fractions:
Blue: 1/4 of the whole square
Red: 1/6
Yellow: 1/4
White: 1/3

The thing that was challenging was to try and get a different pattern to the one above but I just did the colours differently. The thing that was easy was I just placed the colours anywhere.

Hope you enjoyed today's task!

Summer Learning Journey - Minecraft Education Edition - The Chemistry Lab

Kia Ora bloggers! Today I have another amazing post to show you. Today we are using a world about Chemistry that we get to try out fun experiments! The first task in that world we had to make a balloon and tie it to an animal, a cow, pig or a chicken. How did it fly very easily? It flew easily because we added helium which is a very light air that can lift up anyone or anything. For the Step It Up Task I had to make my own lab, which I did as a classroom and added some experiment tables and an area that was closed off because one of the lights had fallen down.

Here is my screencastify of my Portfolio:

Summer Learning Journey - Minecraft Education Edition - Minecraft Hour of Code

Kia Ora bloggers! Today I did the Hour Of Code Minecraft Education Edition. It was so much fun helping other people to make a veggie farm, make a railway and even build a dock for the Villagers and Illigers to go fishing!

This is my Kick Start certificate:

I had a lot of fun doing this task. The easiest task for me was the help bring down the ball from a Villager's elevator and the other task was the  one where we had to build a dock for them to go fishing. The activity that was challenging was the railway one because you had to move your agent down wards as well so I got a bit angry with that and moved to another task. I think problem solving skills are good because if you have your own problem you might know how to figure out the problem and if someone else has a problem them you could help them as well.

This is the Step It Up certificate:

The thing that I found easy was when I had to go through the maze because we had to just move the agent forward some steps and then turn until we got to the gold plate. The thing that I found hard was the task where you had to till the garden and my agent kept on going all over the place and mucking bits up. I think our problem solving skills are amazing because you never know if someone has an accident or an argument and it's bothering you then you will know how to solve it.

Hope you enjoyed today's post!

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 5 Day 5 - It's A Balancing Act

Kia Ora bloggers! Today I had to watch a video of someone stacking some rocks on the edge of a small river by a little water fall and the he takes photos of the stack. Then for the Kick Start task I had to try and stack some rocks like him in the video. And for the Step it up I had to do the same thing but either with only rocks or sticks or both. So I decided to use both as well as using sticks on their own. We also had to add an image onto a google drawing and add labels to what are the important parts of the stack. I also named my stacks, The Haunted Stone Temple, Sticks, Sticks And Even More Sticks!, and The Two-Headed Lizard.

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 5 Day 1 - Build an Anti Gravity Glass with Nanogirl!

Kia Ora bloggers! Today I had to create a Anti Gravity Glass with the help of Nanogirl. For the first task we had to fill up a drinking glass with water to the top and put a piece of thin cardboard onto the top and tip the glass upside down. The first time I tipped the glass upside down it didn't work and the water spilled out but I tried again and it worked. Then for the second task we had to cut an empty plastic bottle to make a little cup with the bottom half, cut a hole big enough to fit the string through and do the same on the opposite side and then tie the string through and do a double knot. Then you need to add a little bit of water in the little cup you made and twist the string around your hand (not to tight) and then swing it around in a circle out in front of you and then see how much water came out.

Here are the videos I created.

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 4 Day 4 - Float Your Boat

Kia Ora Blogger and welcome back to another task! Today we are talking about boats. We had to make one paper boat and then see if it would float. For the Kick Start activity I made the boat with my little sister. Then my Mum had the idea for us to go outside in the rain and use the water in the gutter to float the boats.

And for the Step It Up activity we had to make some other boats and see if they will float.

Here is a slideshow of us making the boats and testing them out.  When we were outside our first test didn't work properly, it got stuck on some rocks in the gutter.  So we tried a different section and it worked.

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 4 Day 1 - Whai String Games: Kick Start

Welcome back to another amazing post! Today I had to read a story about two kids making a cup and a saucer out of string. Then I had to try and make it myself. I tried to make it with the 2 metre string but it was a bit to big so I did it with a 1 metre string. I also taught my little sister and my older brother. It was a bit hard to make the cup and saucer with my sister because the string kept slipping from her hands, but the final time we tried it worked! I also made a video on how to make it.
