Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 4 Day 4 - My Special Summer Place

Kia Ora Bloggers. Today I had to find My Special Summer Place and insert it onto a google drawing and add some facts about that special place. The Place I did is Mahia.  I chose this place because it is the family's master plan for the Christmas Holidays. I also had to do a screencastify of me saying what is special to me about my special place. Then for the Step It up challenge we had to use and app called WeVideo

You can visit my video here and listen to what is special about Mahia.

Here is my google drawing I created:

Hope you enjoyed today's post!

    Morning Maddison,
My name is Caroline, I work for The Warehouse. i had never heard of Mahia before, even though it is famous, so when i saw your post, I went to Google Maps to find out where it was. I then looked at the Rocket Lab website. Do you know how many rockets are launched by Rocket Lab each year from Mahia?

Its a long way from Auckland. It does look very beautiful. Thank you for sharing this, I can say I have learned something new today :)

It is so nice that your family have this tradition, to go to Mahia every Christmas, that is very special.

    1. Kia Ora Caroline,
I can say I had a lot of fun learning a few new things about Mahia as well. No, I don't know how many Rockets they have launched this year. Maybe I can find out sometime and let you know.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

  2. Hey Maddison

Great video! The music in the background made it very professional sounding.

I didn’t know about Mahia before this so it’s cool to hear about somewhere new! Do you ever see the rockets launching?

I wanted to note that I loved hearing the way you pronounce Māori kupu! It’s awesome to whakamana the language in that way.

    Great work!

    1. Kia Ora Benjamin,
I loved how we could use something new in our blogs. I was watching my mum one day putting some videos together for a task I did in Lockdown, the app she was using was called I Movie and WeVideo is a similar app. Once I did my first video I knew what to do and how to use WeVideo. I have seen a Rocket launch live and up in the sky at Mahia. My dad even got some photos of it. Have you ever seen a Rocket been launched?
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

    2. Hey Maddison,

That's handy that you've got parents that are familiar with technology.

I've never seen a rocket launch in person, only on the TV. I imagine it must be a incredible sight, especially those big rockets that travel to the International Space Station!

  3. Kia Ora Maddison,

Yes Mahia is a very special place to our whanau. We enjoyed spending our Christmas with Nan. I am glad we had all those Christmas memories with her. It was hard this year not going to our special place, after losing Nan during lockdown. We will make new ones down there.

I see Benjamin asked about seeing the rockets launching. Do you remember the first time we saw the Rocket launch, you ran outside with Dad, and your brother and sister and could see the rocket shooting into the sky. It was such a special moment, as that was one of the first successful launches.

We are so lucky to have our own slice of paradise right here in Aotearoa.

Nan would be proud of this blog.

    1. Kia Ora Mum,
Yes, I do remember running outside and looking at the rocket flying in the sky. It was hard losing Nan during Lockdown as though we became brave and stronger. Aotearoa is a good place to be.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
