What is most important and special to my Whanau & I is love and whanau. Being together and spending time with whanau and friends means a lot to us. Sometimes we talk in Te Reo. We like to continue traditions and create our own ones too.
I love My Whanau so much that I tell stories about what my Whanau and I have done to my friends & teachers. Before we eat our dinner Samuel, Leeya and I sing a Karakia.
Here is a photo of my family and a video of us singing the Karakia.
Blog you later!
ReplyDeleteKia ora Maddison, I hope you’re having a fantastic day!
Thank you for doing week one, day one, activity two, it is a FANTASTIC post. It was really cool to read where you’re from and what is important to you and your whānau. I absolutely loved the video of you guys singing your karakia, that was really special so thank you for sharing that with me :) I think it’s awesome how you and your family are continuing traditions and creating your own ones too.
I am Pākehā but my dad’s family comes from England and my Mum’s family comes from Scotland and Canada, which is pretty cool because it means I can go and live in all of these countries if I want to! My family is quite small and live in many different places, but I have a lot of friends and family friends who are like family to me. The most important thing about my family is that we are really open and honest and have great communication, my parents are also really loving towards me :)
I only speak English but I would love to learn Te Reo Maori and Spanish.
Thanks for posting! I look forward to reading more of your posts over the next couple of weeks.
Eliza :)
Kia Ora Maddison,
ReplyDeleteThis was very special for you to share on your blog. It shows us how proud you are of your heritage and also what your traditions mean to you.
I hope some of these traditions you will carry on when you have a family of your own. And also make many more of your own as we have.
I agree that spending time together is something of importance and is special to us. Honesty and being kind to one another is also at the top of my list.
Awesome Post
xx
Mum
