Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Wee 6 Day 3 - Pixel Art

 Welcome back to another post! Today I used Pixel Art Maker to create images from it. For the Kick Start I had to make an image from the top of my mind, so I did a chocolate and strawberry ice - cream on a cone. And for the Step It Up Task I had to make a tree, so I did a Pohutukawa Tree.

3 Facts About Pixels:

1. Your screen that is in front of you right now might have over 1 million megapixels!

2. One little Pixel Square will hold three colours, Blue, Green and Red, these colours will make over 

16,777,16 other colour variations!

3. Pixel is short for 'Picture Element'.

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 6 Day 3 - Mondrian

 Kia Ora bloggers! For the Kick Start I had to make my own Mondrian Art. And for the Step It Up I had to make another art and find the areas and fractions of that piece of art.

Here is my first art:

 

I learnt that Piet Mondrian moved to Paris where he met Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso then he moved back to the Netherlands. He calls the art he did before he past, 'Neoplasticiam'. the thing that was challenging was that I didn't know what pattern to do so I just did a easy one. The thing that was easy was to just three colours instead of doing so many different colours.

Here is my second art:

 

Here is my maths: 

Key: 1 square = 1 cm

Area:

Blue: 61 cm

Red: 42 cm

Yellow: 44 cm

White: 77 cm

Fractions:

Blue: 1/4 of the whole square

Red: 1/6

Yellow: 1/4

White: 1/3

The thing that was challenging was to try and get a different pattern to the one above but I just did the colours differently. The thing that was easy was I just placed the colours anywhere.

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 1 Day 4 - Rise Up

Welcome back to my blog. After watching a video of Mangere College's song  We Will Rise, I had to create my own chorus for a song.  I did find this quite hard to start with.  I wasn't sure where to start.  After some time I finally got an idea.  Here is my finished chorus:

For the Step It Up challenge I had to sing the chorus or recite as a poem with someone else or on your own. I thought it would be fun to do with my sister.  Here is the video of me and my sister singing it:

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 1 Day 3 - Tānerore

Welcome back to my Summer Learning Journey.  I am super excited about this activity.  There are two parts.

KICK START

We get to create our own kowhaiwhai pattern using the following template.  

Do you know who Tānerore is? He is the son of Tama-nui-te-ra, he looks like shimmering air as he performs a haka for his mother Hine-raumati.  

When the land is so hot the air shimmers, this is when Tānerore is performing his haka.

I had to create my own kowhaiwhai with a repeating pattern, then using some colours in the background that represented Tānerore/Summer.  Here is my creation.

I used the repeating pattern as a representation of the summer's breeze.  I chose the gradient colours of red, orange and yellow to represent a summers sunset. 

The second part of this activity is

STEP IT UP 

Using the following template I am going to create another kowhaiwhai, which is different to the first one.  

Here is my creation, using the above template.

For this kowhaiwhai I used the Koru and the blue in gradient to represent the ocean and waves crashing into each other. To represent the trees and land I used Kape and the green in the gradient.

Green trees and the ocean remind me of our Summer holidays at the beach in Mahia.

I really enjoyed creating both of these kowhaiwhai patterns.  Do you see how they represent Summer?

Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 1 Day 2 - Insect Art - Step It Up

My next task has arrived for everyone to see!! For today's task we had to use leaves, sticks, rocks and other outdoor equipment that's in our gardens or backyard, to make an insect or a scene. I chose to do a scene. 

Here is my scene, Summer Delight.  I came up with this name as it represents Summer with the flowers and bright green leaves, and when I think of Summer it fills me with a feeling of delight. 

I used some dandelion flowers, not only as a flower in my scene but I also used one to represent the sun.  I tried to use the big leaf like an umbrella.  Using a stick and some grass I made a tree.  Then the broken pieces of grass are meant to look like  leaves fallen from the tree.  I also added a Lego person at the last moment.
