Summer Learning Journey - Flying Solo

Kia Ora bloggers! Today I am going to be doing a blog about 2 women breaking the world record, like when Amelia Earhaert wanted to fly all around the world to explore but one day her plane broke and disappeared, and she was never found.
She led the way so that others could follow and go on to even greater achievements further stating, "trailblazers prepare the rest of us for the future." In 1928, Earhart became the first female passenger to cross the Atlantic by air-plane accompanying pilot Wilmer Stultz, for which she achieved celebrity status. For this activity i have to compare & contrast between Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart.
Below is a venn diagram of what I found about them.

Blog you later!

  1. Namaste Maddison,

Ka pai for doing week one, day two, activity one! What was your favourite part about doing this activity? I enjoyed reading the facts about Jean Batten or Amelia Earhart - they were both pretty amazing women weren’t they!? Did you know that Jean would take a silk dress with her on her flights, so that she could look beautiful wherever she landed! I reckon that’s pretty cool :)

Have you been on a plane before? If you have, where did you go? Do you think you’d like to fly a plane if you had the chance to?

Have a fantastic day and thanks for posting,
    Eliza :)

    1. Hey, Eliza. I have never been on a plane but when I was young and was picking up my dad from the air port I asked if I could go with him on his next plane flight but he hasn't this/last year.

      Catch you later Eliza!

  3. Kia Ora Maddison,

This is a great blog. I loved reading the different points you found out about both pilots.

Did you know there is a school in Mangere, Auckland (not far from where we live) that is named after Jean Batten.

I see you said Jean Batten was born in Rotorua, do you know where Amelia Earhaert was born?

Unfortunately Dad hasn't been anywhere since that trip. Who know maybe this year you might get to go on a plane ride.

    xx
    Mum
