It's Leslie here, reading your blog from wintry Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. It's a lot of fun for me to be participating in the same program as you are even though I live on the other side of the world!
I'm very interested that you've come up with the idea of building your hotel out of glass bricks. Have you ever seen anything built out of this type of material before? I would think that the glass would allow a lot of light into your building so that it would be very bright. That's a real plus!!
However, how would a glass brick building stand up to earth tremors or earth quakes? I'm afraid that Christchurch is rather known for its tremors and quakes... Hmmm... That could be a challenging problem. Perhaps there's a solution. Perhaps there's something that could be added to the glass to make it as resilient as possible.
I like your drawing of the interior of a room - well done. Have you ever had a chance to stay in a hotel? I think you've included all the important features - a bed, a bathroom and an entrance/exit door. I'd be happy to come and stay in your hotel some time when I'm visiting New Zealand!
I hope you're enjoying these activities and I hope you're also having a really nice summer holiday with lots of outdoor time!!
What a great design!! I am very intrigued by the idea of a hotel made out of glass bricks. Would the bricks be coloured or clear? You have included all the important things you need in a hotel room.
