Summer Learning Journey - Printing Prosthetics

Kia Ora blogger's. Today's blog is about casts. Below are two pictures of a plaster cast and a 3D printed one.  Which one do I prefer and why?

Plaster cast.
  1. The 3D cast looks weird.
  2. My friends and family wouldn't be able to sign a 3D Printed one
  3. The 3D cast doesn’t look like it would be supportive enough or protect the arm.

In the comments, what cast would you have?

  1. Hello Maddison, How is your day going so far?

Well those look like some good differences. My family dont have a 3D printer so I dont think I will use one of those. If I could choose between those two I will preffer to have the 3D printer one because in a future we will use them a lot. I very like the two pictures you have putted in like that we could see the differences. Maybe next time you should add which cast will you have. Otherwise, great blog post Maddison.

    1. Hey, Pao. thanks for the comment. I didn't know that you never had a 3D printer. The 3D printer is so much fun. My mum has one but she doesn't use it any more. She made awesome things like puzzles, animals and lots more. But now she has a Cricut Machine. She has fun with it.

      See you later!

  2. Ata Mārie Maddison,

Kueni here from the Summer Learning Journey, how are you today? Can you believe we’re only a few days from finishing the programme for this Summer. I feel like it has gone by so fast, are you excited to be going back to school soon?

Thank you for sharing your opinion about what kind of plaster cast you would prefer between a plaster cast and a 3D cast. I think it is so awesome that you have taken the time to really think about this after watching the video and forming your own opinion for yourself about the 3-D printing of casts.

Unfortunately I can only award you hald points for this activity as this activity asks you to share ONE thing that you have learned from watching the video that is attached to the activity and ONE thing that you surprised you.

If you would like to gain full points, can you please have a go at sharing those two things but either creating a new post or editing this one, I look forward to reading your new blog post response to this activity.

    Ngā Mihi,
    Kueni :)

  3. Hello Maddison,
Once again you are powering through these activities. Can you believe it the Summer Learning Journey is nearly finished. There is still a bit of time to punch a few more activities out of the way. I really like how you are very creative. I also like how you added the pictures of the casts. I think I would have the plaster cast because I know that a plaster cast will work, but I don't know if a 3-D one will work. Maybe next time you could focus a bit more on the activities. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!
