Summer Learning Journey - A Long Walk To Freedom

For today's blog, I am imagining that I am Mr Mandela in Robben Island prison. I have to write a diary entry describing what life is like in Robben Island prison.  Nelson Mandela spent 18 years in Robben Island prison. Mandela had a tiny, damp, concrete cell, with only a straw mat to sleep on. It must have been very hard. Here is my diary entry.

Blog you later!

  1. Buenas Noches Maddison,

Thank you for completing today's activity about the one and only Nelson Mandela. He was such an amazing man, he is the definition of changemaker.

I really enjoyed reading your journal entry about how you would feel if you were Mandela in that jail all those years! I like how much detail you have put into your writing and especially using some of the facts that you were given in the activity, kei te pai!

Did you know that he had six children and twenty grandchildren? What a legacy he left behind for them.

  2. Kia Ora Maddison,

What a diary entry. You really made me feel like I was sitting in his prison cell. The description was very realistic. Keep up the awesome work.

  3. Hello Maddison,
Once again it is Vitaraag here, again. I really like how you added that Mr Mandela was in prison for 18 years. That is a long time. I can't even imagine going to jail for 1 month. I also really like how you explained what was in his cell in a lot of detail. I feel kind of bad for Mr Mandela. The reason why is he spent 18 years in prison, even though he could have spent those 18 years trying to fix the issue with African Americans. Maybe next time you could add some information about how you would have felt if you were in jail for 18 years. Overall, this is a phenomenal blog post! Keep up the astonishing work!
