Week 4 Day 1 Activity 3- The Sky in Shanghai

On this blog post I have to write a poem about going to Beijing in China.

Here is My poem:

I am going on a plane
That flies in the rain
Outside its very dark
Then I hear a dogs bark
Then I land
And my feet hit the sand
I want to go back
But in the plane I hear a crack.

  1. Hi Maddison,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team reading your blog from my home in Canada.

You've created a good poem about visiting Beijing. It's hard to write poetry, I think so I really appreciate that you've given this activity a try - good on you!!

Have you ever been to Beijing? I haven't. I think I would find it very uncomfortable to wear a face mask and to be in a smoggy environment. Would you?

I live in a small town in Canada where the air is clean and clear. I feel very lucky!! But I grew up in Toronto which is a very big city that can be quite smoggy, at times. There are so many cars, trucks and buses using the roads and there are so many industries producing smoke that the air can become quite thick and grey. Ugh!!
Our government in creating new laws to require companies to reduce that amount of smoke/toxic waste they can pump into the air from their factories, and we're also requiring car manufacturers to build cars that produce less exhaust. Hopefully we'll get ahead of this problem!!

Meanwhile, I hope you're enjoying lots of time outdoors in the beautiful air of Auckland and I hope you've enjoyed doing these activities!!

I'll continue to read your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
