Week 1 Day 3 Activity 2 - The Secretive Skink

This is my 2nd blog post for Day 3.

I have to list 6 things about being a DOC Staff.
3 bad things about being a DOC Staff and 3 good things about being a DOC Staff

Here are 3 good things

1: Firstly, because I love Nature
2: Because I like animals
3: because I want to save NZ animals

Now 3 bad things
because you will get board
because your hands will get sore from typing lost
and because you have to work almost all year

Well done for completing another Summer Learning Journey activity, 'The Secretive Skink' and for telling us about '3 pros' and '3 cons' to being a DOC Ranger. I really appreciate how you've structured this activity, Maddison— it was very easy for me to follow. I understand that you've introduced '3 pros' and '3 cons' to being a DOC Ranger.
I'm happy to read that you love nature; our natural environment is SO important and it's critical that we respect it as much as we respect each other.

You make 3 good points for the cons:
    1. Because you will get bored.
    2. Because your hands will get sore from typing lots.
    3. Because you have to work almost all year.

Great job, Maddison! Maybe you can add some colour to your post to help it stand out?
I look forward to seeing more work from you!

    Thanks,

    Jordan

  2. Kia Ora Maddison!

My name is Rachel and I am working with the Summer Learning Journey programme team this year. It is wonderful to see that you have been so active with the programme and completed so many activities already. Wow! Way to go! I know that Megan will be really excited to see that you are already on Week #2.

I can see from this activity that Jordan has already read your work and left a comment. She is one of our cluster managers, working in the Kootuitui cluster in Papakura this year. Like Jordan, I think that you have had three really good points regarding the downside or 'cons' associated with being a DOC ranger. I, too, wonder if I would get bored working on my own all of the time. I am a social person who loves spending time with family and friends so I think that I might struggle. Having said that, I used to live with a girl (Melanie) who was a DOC ranger and she loved her job. We met while we were living in Japan and we have now both moved to New Zealand to live here permanently. She lives in Te Puke at the moment with her family. Have you ever been to Te Puke? I am going to get there soon to visit her!

Hope that you have a great time with the rest of the SLJ. We will be looking out for your blogs and posting as many comments as we can over the next two weeks.

See you online again soon, I hope!

    Cheers,
    Rachel

  3. Hi Maddison,

You have shown some great pros and cons for being a DOC Worker. It would be great to work up close with some of our native animals in their natural habitats but yes I think I would get bored too. I am a very social person and love talking to people.

I personally could see you being a doc worker are you love animals and being outside.
