During lockdown we've been making cardboard poppies! It's really fun because I love crafting! My mum cut out the pieces with her Cricut Machine. Then we had to glue them together. Because we are unable to attend any Anzac Day Commemorations,
St John Youth came up with an idea to display poppies in our windows. Here are a couple of photos of our poppies.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these. They look super cool. I am going to do something for us here as well, but we are down a long driveway so it will have to be on the letterbox or fence I think.
Hopefully our neighbours enjoy them as we live down a very quiet street off the main road. One way of us paying some respect as we are normally part of the annual Anzac parade in New Lynn.
DeleteThese were great fun to make, and will hopefully bring a smile to some of our neighbours.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Maddison, these look fantastic. Did you know the RSA are going to be playing an ANZAC service on the radio for us to be able to follow on ANZAC day? We usually go to a service too, but obviously we can't this year. One of the suggestions has been that people stand outside their front doors, or possibly at the end of their driveways (if you can maintain social distancing this way), and listen to the service on the radio - it's being played early. I think this is what we are going to do with other neighbours on our street. I was speaking with Mrs Law last night on the phone, and she said she is going to be painting some poppies. Thank you for keeping ANZAC day part of your lives during lock down, hopefully next year, you'll be able to be on parade again.
ReplyDeleteHi Maddison,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of putting poppies on your window. That is so creative. How does the Cricut Machine work? It's really cool how put those words under the poppies. I didn't do anything for Anzac Day. I might make a poppy/flower out of a plastic bottle. The activity is on the Te Waka Ako site, in Art.
Great blog post, Maddi.
Blog you later!!!
Kia Ora Rael,
DeleteMy mum's Cricut Machine, Cuts paper out, draws what we want it to draw. It's a really cool machine. I did watch the video of how to make a flower out of a plastic bottle. Did you see the video of how to make bouncing bubbles? I did, the secret ingredient is is sugar!
Hope to see your comments on my other posts!
Bye, Rael
