Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 1 Day 5 - Summer Haiku

Welcome back again bloggers!! Today's task involves poetry. The type of poetry we are using today will be haiku poems. For the Kick Start task we had to make one poem about summer! Here is my poem:

For the Step It Up Challenge we had to fill in a slideshow creating 3 poems. We also had to record ourselves reading the poems. Here is the slideshow and my video down blew:

Fantastic haiku poems. I like how you made some of them about Christmas as well as Summer. We are lucky enough in New Zealand to celebrate Christmas during Summer. You were also very clear with your video of you reciting the poems. I liked the touch of you wearing a Christmas themed headband.

You have had a great week of blogging, can't wait to see what next week brings.

    1. Hi Mum,
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I had lots of fun making these. Yes we are very lucky to have Christmas in Summer. I like that we are able to go to the beach for Christmas too.
      Thank you for your support.

  2. Hey Maddison,

I’m Daniel from the SLJ Blog commenting team. I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing blog posts and I hope you’re enjoying your summer too.

Great work on the ‘Kick start’ and ‘Step it up’ parts of the Haiku activity. I really like your first poem and the picture fits it perfectly, like a great day out with the family, lots of fun but then a bit sad because it’s time to go home.

The line in your second poem ‘Ice-Cream cold in hands’ is also brilliant, I think everyone knows the feeling of cold ice-cream running down their hands on a hot summer day, so this is a great line that lots of people can connect to.

See you later in the comments.

    Daniel

This is Jaimie here from Waikowhai Primary School.
This is a great post! I loved your creativity in the poems and how you went that extra mile by writing 4 poems instead of three! I love how you're showing such great commitment to the Summer Learning Journey.
