Summer Learning Journey - Celebrating Summer - Week 2 Day 5 - Meri Kirihimete ki a koutou

Welcome back to my blog! Today we had to get the family together to sing a Christmas song. We sang part of The Kiwi Jingle Bells song. We had a lot of fun while trying to get everyone singing it. If you want to listen to our song and the full version.

This is our part of the song:

Here is the link to the full version.

For the step up challenge, we had to play a game.  Our whanau loves playing games,  we have a big cupboard filled with lots of games.  Scrabble, Game of Life, Chess, Pictureka.  But our all time favourite game is Monopoly.  We can get very competitive with it.  It can also last hours and hours.  My mum, dad and brother stayed up after midnight playing once.  We had started the game at 2pm.

Hopefully tonight's game doesn't last that long.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

    1. Hi Molly,
Our version is the around the world edition, but does have card we can swap out with 2 NZ cities on them. Thank you, those are some of the flowers that my dad buys for my mum every week.

  2. Ka pai Maddison. I like how you put a shorter version of your song on your blog but also included a link the the full version, a bit like a movie trailer! So now for the big questions, who won Monopoly and how long did the game last? I got a new game for Christmas called Ecosystem where you have to build a habitat with different animals and plants. It's really fun!

The game was really fun. The game lasted a few hours, not as long as it usually does. Also, as usual, Dad won.

Your new game sounds really fun! What do you make the habitat out of?? We also got a new game which has a bunch of Chinese and English Chess games in it.

Have an awesome rest of your day.

    3. Hi Maddison. We just played my new game. You make a habitat out of streams and meadows the add animals like bees, fish, bears and wolves. It's great fun.

  3. Morning Maddison,

This activity was so much fun. Certainly gave us some laughs. Not sure we would have made it through filming the entire song. In the end it was all in the name of fun, and that we had.
Yes Monopoly is our family's favourite game. As usual dad won. Not sure how he manages to beat us all every time. At least this one didn't last as long as the rest of them do.

    Keep up the great blogging

    1. Hi Mum,
Yes we need to try and find a game that dad doesn't always win.

  4. Kia ora Maddison,

WOW - great work sharing your fantastic video of you and your whānau singing jingle bells together. Ka pai! I thoroughly enjoyed the singing and festive kiwi lyrics.

It was also great to see that you 'Stepped it Up' and wrote an awesome blog all about how you play board games with your family. Christmas at your house sounds so much fun! Monopoly can take a long time to finish in my house too - sometimes the board stays set up on the table for over 3 days!

For all the effort you have put into this activity I am definitely awarding you bonus points - well done!

Keep up the great summer learning.

    1. Hi Fiona,
Wow!!! 3 days, we have played very late into the night. I can see how the game can keep going before anyone really wins it.
I love Christmas with my family, we have lots of fun, eat lots of food and have many laughs.
Thank you for your support and comments
